These days I am busy with location scouting. Driving around in my old Audi on the prowl of urban wasteland. Trying to imagine scenes taking place on these rough limits of the city. I am working my way through the dark sides of my mind and in the proces learning a lot of the city when it sleeps.
I had this kind of ‘Birds’ moment at 1:00 AM a couple of nights ago. It was a warm spring evening and bunnies had taken over a industrial area at the eastern part of Amsterdam when I got out of my car to take a location picture. There was almost no sound when I walked onto an abandoned dirt parking lot. That changed quite quickly when a big sea-gull on a light post started to scream. A shiver ran down my spine when more birds followed the big bird. I managed to take one picture and retreated slowly to the old Audi. Just before I got to the car a bird flew over my head and screamed out loud.
Sometimes places change completely when night falls and nature tries to reconquer the spot. These changes fuel my imagination and suck me into another strange world.
